Last Sept. 7 Grace Baptist quarterback Josh Blake put on a show in a 48-35 win over neighbor Silverdale Baptist.
This Friday, Blake and his Golden Eagles will face the Seahawks again at the Booker T. Washington field.
Silverdale coach John Allen said recently he wasn’t sure how to stop Blake.
That could be because Blake completed 15-of-18 passes for 186 yards, including scoring strikes of 28, 8, and 14 yards and a pair of two-point conversions in the last meeting.
Blake used his 4.5 speed to rush eight times for 167 yards, scoring on runs of 1, 76, and 69 yards.
But that’s not all the 6-foot; 170-pound crowd-pleaser did that evening.
Blake added 10 tackles on defense and capped his team's 48-35 win with a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
In 2007, he was named 1A All-State by the Tennessee Football Coaches Association after throwing for 1,801 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 910 yards and scoring 12 more times. He also recorded 80 tackles and picked off two passes in the secondary.
Letters of interest have been coming in from schools such as Vanderbilt, Virginia, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee Tech among others.
